Your entire lifetime can be found in a single day if you look closely. How you spend an individual day says much about your overall approach to life.
Remember when you would come home from school, and your mother would ask you, “What did you learn today? Did you make any friends?” Well, these are actually pretty important questions, and you can ask yourself them at the end of any day as a way of gauging how well you seized that day. Below are some questions to get you started. Add the word “today” to the end of each question as you read them to yourself or someone else.
Connect
- Did you tell anyone that you love them?
- Did you speak with a family member or close friend?
- Were you able to help anyone by simply listening to them?
- How much face-to-face time did you get with other people?
- Have you encouraged anyone, or given them positive feedback?
- Is there anyone you want to spend more time with than you currently do?
Collaborate
- Were you a silent observer, or did you contribute ideas and feedback?
- Did you contribute your best ideas or just your safe ideas?
- Did you give honest feedback, or did you just go along to get along?
- Did you let the most aggressive person lead the way, or did you encourage everyone to participate?
- Did you bring a positive attitude to your work?
- Did you focus on problems or on solutions?
- Is there anyone whose team you want to join, or who you want to join your team?
Create
- Did you have any interesting ideas?
- Did you get your hands dirty?
- Did you let your imagination wander?
- Did you practice your craft?
- Which medium did you work in?
- Did you push past any creative obstacles?
- Did you walk through the day with an observant eye?
- Is there anyone who you could partner with that would amplify you creatively?
