The next time you’re sitting around with friends or family and have nothing better to do, ask each other the following questions, and get to know each other even more than you do now.

Begin each sentence below with the phrase: “If you could …”

… glimpse the future just once, what would you want to see?

… erase a single memory from your mind, what would you erase?

… be more disciplined about something, what would it be?

… bring one person back from the dead for a day, who would it be?

… place a curse on someone, who would you curse?

… place a blessing on someone, who would you bless?

… erase a single day from history, what day would you erase?

… be free of one of your responsibilities, which one would you select?

… see the moment of your death, would you chose to look?

… keep one thing while losing everything else, what would you keep?

… afford to live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

… completely change someone’s life, who would you help?

… remove a persistent habit from your life, what would you remove?

… be someone else for a single day, who would you be?

… turn an enemy into a friend, who would you convert?

… renew a friendship from years ago, which one would you renew?

… be more open-minded about something, what would it be?

… see someone in a new light, who would you want to see differently?

… convince someone to change their mind, who would you pick?

… speak to one species of animal, which animal would you choose?

… be present at the moment of discovery for something of significance, what would you select to be a witness of?

… meet your younger self just once, at what age would you choose to meet yourself?

… renegotiate something you agreed to in the past, what would you renegotiate?

… leave all of your worldly possessions to just a single individual, who would you choose?

… force two enemies to sit down and break bread together, who would you invite to dinner?

… change the entire trajectory of your life, what direction would you want to go in?
